What did Samuel Marsden see?

LI: To use the information in the diary extract to create an image of what we think Samuel Marsden saw when he sailed down the Tamaki awa.

This term we made Tamaki river like what Samuel Marsden saw. Who is Samuel Marsden you might ask, Samuel Marsden is a missionary that came from the UK to spread Christianity and spread farming to the Maori’s. How we made the Tamaki river how looked like how it looked from decades ago. Their was a brush tool that add stuff to put on it. The most fun part was the putting the waka’s. Some thing’s was difficult to remove but ia was still fun.

Alley Way

This term we created a alley way, I found this activity exciting and fun. Our task was to copied a story that had to be like the story. The fun i put in was the graffiti, light pole and the sky, how did i do it. There was color brush to color in the part that you want to put stuff in, and there would be a text to write what you want on that part.

When i was done i wote i blurb, This is the image I created using the Adobe Express. I found this activity challenging because not to cover the part that is already done but I found it fun because I could put graffiti and more stuff on it.

What Reading look like in LS2

LI: To understand that everyone has a role to play when we are working in groups

What reading looks like in LS2, Today our task was about the kuaka. What learning looks like in LS2, We always share ideas to each other. The responsibility of the leader is to manage everyone to be on task and ask everyone their ideas. What helped me that everyone share their idea and that me more knowledge. The most important part is that everybody was one task and they were on task.

The Kuaka, the kuaku is a bird that migrates when the whether changes. And the other task was dot to dot, we had to put words that matches the Kuaka. Then you had to do line’s that matches the word, this is a example location and journey then you do a line, and you write, they go from New Zealand to Alaska.

Who was Samuel Marsden?

LI: To use our smart searching skills to find out who Samuel Marsden was and what he is known for.

This week we were talking about who was Samuel Marsden. Samuel Marsden is a Missionary from England that came to New Zealand to help spread Christianity and farming to the Māori people. Why was Samuel Marsden famous for, he was famous for being a missionary who brought Christianity mission in 1814.

How did Samuel Marsden pass away, he passed away from a illness that was called an incipient chill while visiting the Reverend Henry Stiles at St Matthew’s Church in Windsor.

Evolution of the NZ Flag

LI: To understand the story behind our flag

Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time. Something I found interesting was how Hone Heke was copping the British flag. Hone Heke was copping down the British flag is an enduring image in New Zealand history. And He expressed his outrage by repeatdly attacking the flagstaff on the hill above.

Kauri Dieback

LI: to understand the meaning of the Kauri Dieback disease

Our challenge today was to use the links provided and our own smart searching skills to find out what Kauri dieback is and what we need to do to try and prevent this from spreading. We need to know about this so that we do our part to keep our Kauri safe when we go on hike at camp.

What does the Karuri Dieback do to, the Kauri Dieback is a disease that kills trees like small trees in the mud. Animals and other trees can spread the disease too.

Aotearoa Flag’s

On the start of the year we had a disscusion about Aotearoa flags. The first flag I did was the first flag of NZ, the flag was adoped on 20 March 1834. It was by vote’s from the tribes. And the second flag i did is the current flay that we have right now. And it was adoped on 1902. And the final flag that I did was UK flag. I wote how Hone Heke was chopping down the British flag, Hone Heke was chopping it down because he was enduring image in New Zealand history. And He expressed his outrage by repeatedly attacking the flagstaff in the hill above Kororareka.

Expectations

At the start of 2025 learning year LS2 has a disscusion about how we could make the most of our learning time. To be able to do this we expect to be able to learn new things and collaborate with others.
